HubSpot’s Simple Automations

Category : Knowledge Share

A few months ago, HubSpot began offering what it calls “simple” automations. They are essentially the same as a typical workflow – just not as robust.

Simple workflow are limited to 10 actions, and they have fewer triggers and actions than a typical workflow. For example, they don’t have the option for if/then branching. They’re good if you want to automate 1 or 2 actions, such as sending a follow up email or creating an internal task for a team member.

They can be created either while creating and modifying a form or while creating and modifying an email.

Simple Automation with Forms

When editing a form, in addition to “Options” and “Style & Preview”, there is now an “Automation” tab that allows you to automate what happens after a form is submitted.
The recommended simple workflow is to send an email after a form submission, but you are not limited to that.

Simple Automation with Emails

When editing an email, in addition to “Edit”, “Settings”, and “Send or Schedule”, there is now an “Automation” tab that automates what happens after the email is sent.
The recommended simple workflow is to add contacts that click to a list. You have more trigger options here (email bounced, contact clicked, contact opened, contact replied, etc.).
