Using Yoast SEO Plugin for Open Graph Data

Category : Knowledge Share

The Yoast SEO plugin for WordPress includes a section for Social settings that populate Open Graph (OG) data on Facebook and other platforms.

Open Graph data refers to the metadata that social platforms use when content is shared via a status update, post, etc.

Default OG Image Setting :

Yoast SEO > Social > Facebook tab > Upload or choose an image (1200x800px recommended by Yoast, but 1200x630px works best if text is in the image)

Page/Post Level OG Settings:

Edit Page/Post > Yoast SEO > Social tab > Upload or choose image + add title + add description

HubSpot CMS Page/Post Level Workaround:

Marketing > Website pages / posts > Edit > Settings > Additional Settings > Add OG tags for title and image into the “Head HTML” section (screenshot below)

The HubSpot workaround is useful if you’re using the featured image to populate a listing page for a blog or some other section of the site but want to change the image and title to be shown on social media.
